Anti Aging Prodedure with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

For many people, looking great is a simple matter of skin renewal treatments for pigment and vessel clearance to reveal clearer, more attractive skin. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin treatments using the photo rejuvenation technology represents a breakthrough in age-defying skin care.

This technique treats skin non-invasively. IPL treatments address the effects of photo-aging and sun damage with low risk of side effects and minimal recovery time.

IPL uses precise amounts of visible light to effectively treat facial redness, small vessels and pigmented lesions. The light energy is absorbed by the dark spots resulting in lightening of the spots and a brighter more even skin tone.

What is IPL Skin Rejuvenation?
IPL Skin Rejuvenation helps you keep a younger and fresher look. The safe, visible light emitted from the IPL laser makes your face look younger by removing age spots, sun spots, uneven pigmentation, diffuse redness and by stimulating collagen and improving your skin texture.

The Dual Pulsed light system used by Cairns Clear Skin enables us to perform a skin rejuvenation treatment that will help to soften the visible aspects of all factors; softening lines and wrinkles and tightening skin, reducing pigmentation and vascular conditions.

New collagen is formed in response to the body’s perceived injury to ‘heal’ the wound, whether that is by surgical intervention or traumatic injury. The light penetrates deep into the dermal layer of the skin tissue, heating it up and triggering off this ‘healing’ response.

What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Dual light
At Cairns Clear Skin we use the Dual Pulsed Light (DPL) which is particularly effective for both hair removal and skin rejuvenation. The Dual mode HR (hair removal) & SHR increase the treatment speed & client safety as well as allowing the DPL to be used for treatment of darker skin types.

Important Information
It’s important to note, there are many different brands of IPL machines and they are NOT all created equal. There is a huge variation in the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of various machines, which is often reflected in the treatment pricing.

The Dual Light IPL is a medical grade machine that has many settings, incredible power, and variability of wavelength, colour spectrum, and pulse type to treat different skin conditions and skin types so that it does the job it is designed for quickly and efficiently without the risk of damaging surrounding tissue.

Is this a Non Invasive Procedure?
Yes, IPL is non invasive.

What can I expect after a Photofacial treatment?
Immediately after your Photofacial, you can expect a mild sun burn like sensation that may last for 24-48 hours.
Age spots, freckles & sun spots may darken initially for a few days and then lighten or disappear. Even though a series 3 IPL treatments is recommended, you will see results with your first treatment within 7-14 days!

Am I a candidate for an IPL Photofacial?
Skin types 1-4 are candidates for an IPL Photofacial. Darker ethnic skin types (Skin type 5 and 6) are not a candidate.

What areas can be treated with IPL?
Face, neck, and décolleté (chest), hands and arms, are most common areas for an IPL rejuvenation treatments. Although most of the body can be treated for Hair Removal.

What is the cost of IPL treatment?
The cost is $300 per treatment for a full face rejuvenation and $720 for a series of 3 treatments.

Safe, comfortable and fast!
In the past, harsh treatments resulted in red, raw skin, with a long recovery period. The Dual Light Technology provides the most comfortable, effective Photofacials available, without any downtime. Treatments take about 30 minutes, and you can return to work looking and feeling fine although excessive exercise is not recommended for 24 hours.

Are there any side affects?
Any potential side effects are minor and can include:

Pain during treatment (reduced by contact cooling)

Skin turning pink and a little sore immediately after the procedure.

Sensation of a mild sunburn (redness, peeling, swelling) that may last a few days after treatment.

Pigmentation and freckles will darken and then peel/flake off or just be reabsorbed into the body. The darkening may last up to 4-7 days.

Rarely, skin pigment may absorb too much light energy and blistering can occur.

Sometimes the pigment cells (melanocytes) can be damaged leaving darker or paler patches of skin. White patches or scars are rarely permanent.
